How to Compare Polyester Lining Before a Bulk Fabric Order
A bulk purchase of polyester lining should begin with the garment rather than the roll specification. Manufacturers need to consider how the lining will interact with the outer fabric, where it will be used and what finish the finished garment requires. GSM is useful, but it should be one part of the comparison.
Start with the lining's construction. Polyester lining fabric can have different characteristics depending on its weave. Taffeta (190T) is available in the 52–65 GSM range and offers a lightweight, smooth and non-bulky finish. Satin ranges from 67–80 GSM and provides a smooth, glossy surface with good drape. Satin dobby covers 72–82 GSM and has a textured satin base, while jacquard ranges from 80–85 GSM with a woven surface pattern.
Width and roll length also matter to production planning. A lining that works well technically may still need to fit the manufacturer's cutting and spreading requirements. Surface and hand feel should be checked alongside GSM, particularly when comfort and the appearance of the garment's inner side matter. The outer fabric's weight, weave and care routine should also be considered before final selection.
A practical approach is to shortlist two or three options and make samples with the actual garment fabric. Check sliding, hang, sewing, seam puckering, wrinkling, shade and pressing response before approving a bulk order. Double Ghoda supplies 100% polyester lining in four weaves, with a 52–85 GSM range and 45-metre rolls. The range includes 50+ shades overall, with black, navy, white and off-white among the top sellers. Evaluating samples before ordering helps connect the fabric specification with actual production performance.
